Mark your calendars, book fiends. The premier gathering of readers and writers in the state has officially released its lineup of authors and events, and you’re going to want to be there.
Now in its 17th year, the newly dubbed Six Bridges Book Festival (formerly the Arkansas Literary Festival) is hosted by the Central Arkansas Library System at various locations throughout the city April 23-26.
Learn more about the decision to rename the fest here.
One thing that will remain the same, however, is the diverse lineup of writers from bestsellers and Emmy winners to poets and comedians.
Here’s a small portion of what to expect:
- Tim O’Brien, author of “The Things They Carried”
- Jacqueline Woodson, author of “Brown Girl Dreaming”
- Rob Hart, author of “The Warehouse”
- Trenton Lee Stewart, author of “The Mysterious Benedict Society”
- Alia Volz, essayist and author of “Home Baked: My Mom, Marijuana, and the Stoning of San Francisco”
- Shaun O’Neale, winner of “Master Chef” season 7 and author of “My Modern American Table”
- Jerry Mitchell, reporter and author of “Race Against Time: A Reporters Reopens the Unsolved Murder Cases of the Civil Rights Era”
As always, there will be plenty of extracurricular events surrounding the fest, including a show with comedian Matteo Lane (“The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” Netflix’s “The Comedy Lineup”), multiple cooking workshops, production of “The Wind in the Willows” by the Arkansas Arts Center and, of course, the aptly named Author! Author!, the fest’s annual party where guests can mingle with featured authors.
You can see more of the lineup on the Six Bridges website, and follow the fest on Facebook and Twitter for updates.
We have a bit of an announcement to make. Bestselling author and National Book Award winner @JackieWoodson will present at the 17th annual Six Bridges Book Festival! Better reserve those tickets now, friends.https://t.co/9AVQu6Q8OB
