Here’s the Lineup for Filmland 2020

The past few weeks have been full of exciting developments on this year’s Filmland event. Not only did the annual Arkansas Cinema Society film festival announce it’s going drive-in style at the new MP Outdoor Cinema alongside an at-home virtual screening option, but now a lineup containing Oscar-buzzworthy films has locals counting down the days. 

Here’s your guide to Filmland 2020.

 

Oct. 1

  • 7:15 p.m. – “The Way I See It”
  • Following the movie – Q&A with former Chief Official White House Photographer Pete Souza and producers Jayme Lemons and Evan Hayes

 

Oct 2

  • Prior to the main event – screening of Filmland: Arkansas Shorts program audience award winner
  • 7:15 p.m. – “One Night in Miami…” 
  • Following the movie – Q&A with writer/executive producer Kemp Powers and actor Eli Goree, moderated by ACS co-founder Jeff Nichols 

 

Oct. 3

  • Prior to the main event – “Super Human” short film premiere by Filmmaking Lab for Teen Girls participants
  • 7:15 p.m. – “Nomadland”
  • Following the movie – Q&A with director Chloé Zhao

 

Oct. 4

  • Prior to the main event – screening of Filmland: Arkansas Student Shorts program audience award winner
  • 7:15 p.m. – “Dreamland”
  • Following the movie – Q&A with actor Margot Robbie and director Miles Joris-Peyrafitte

Oct. 7

This screening will take place virtually and is a joint event marking the end of Filmland and the start of the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival.

  • 7 p.m. – “You Cannot Kill David Arquette”
  • Following the movie – Q&A with filmmakers David and Christina McLarty Arquette

 

The organization’s mission is to “[build] a film community in Arkansas where film lovers can watch films, share ideas, connect with each other and nurture the new and existing film talent within our state through increased exposure to filmmakers and their art.”
