New Galleries, Art Nights at Historic Arkansas Museum, Butler Center Galleries

Those in need of an art fix this weekend should be able to find what they’re looking for at the Historic Art Museum and Butler Center Galleries.

Between the two of them, art enthusiasts can enjoy two Second Friday Art nights and three new exhibits that open Friday.

Over at the Historic Arkansas Museum is two exhibits that feature art from a Little Rock area painter and a collection of advertising from the 19th and 20th centuries from Marsha Stone.

The “Kateri Joe: Thank Your Lucky Stars” exhibit will feature the work of Joe, who is a self-taught artist. It’s her first full exhibit and is based on the universal relationship of humanity and the Cosmos. The exhibit will be open through Sept. 7.

A Beauty on It Sells Advertising — Art from the collection of Marsha Stone” exhibit gives a glimpse into the history of advertising and the materials used in the late 19th and early 20th century. The exhibit will be open through Jan 5.

As part of the Second Art Friday Night, the museum will have an opening reception for the new exhibits, in addition to live music and refreshments. The event is set for 5-8 p.m.

Over at the Butler Center, the “Arkansas Homemakers: Home Demonstration and Extension Clubs,” includes photographs from the Arkansas History Commission and paintings by Katherine Strause to celebrate 100 years of the Arkansas Extension Homemakers Clubs. The exhibit will be open through Sept. 27.

The center’s Second Art Friday Night is set for 5-8 p.m.
