Giving Guide: AR Kids Read

AR Kids Read’s mission is to nurture a love for reading through relationships so that every child may one day read on grade level.

AR Kids Read was founded through the efforts of civic and church leaders who created a nonprofit literacy program to support children in first through third grades who are reading below grade level.

AR Kids Read recruits, trains and mobilizes volunteer tutors who encourage student’s reading efforts and provide literacy skill-building activities in their specific areas of need.

• Underwrite a year (fall, spring and summer terms) of curriculum, activities, books and tutor support for a child with a Student Sponsorship of $25 per month.

• Become a literacy superhero by volunteering one hour/week (or more!) for 20 weeks (October-March).

• Build a volunteer team at your organization and become a partner with a school or after-school site.
