“Acne does not discriminate. It affects all age groups, races, and both sexes.” In fact, nearly 85 percent of people have acne at some point in their lives.
Acne vulgaris, “common acne,” is a skin condition caused by changes in the sebaceous glands. The culprit behind those inflamed, painful bumps is P. acnes bacteria. Blackheads, meanwhile, are caused by the oxidation of oil and waxy substances in the pores. Sounds a little gross, but they have nothing to do with cleanliness.
So, what’s a gal (or guy!) to do to get rid of those pesky blemishes?
