Geek Eats is Going Brick-and-Mortar

Browsing your neighborhood farmers market normally brings about the discovery of some fantastic, unknown, local treats that quickly become a staple in the pantry. One such delicious delicacy is the hummus from Geek Eats.

Coming in all sorts of flavors from chipotle to carrot curry to black bean and feta, Jeremy Rhodes’s hummus often steals the spotlight from the rest of table. Rhodes started selling his go-to snack for board game get-togethers under the banner of Geek Eats back in 2013, and has since become a regular at markets, even adding pesto and granola to his menu.

But he’s just getting started. Plans are now in the works for the Geek Eats Deli and Boardgaming Cafe in North Little Rock’s Park Hill neighborhood. The eatery would include authentic deli sandwiches, artisanal beers and other menu items, as well as the opportunity to play a round of Scrabble before you head out.

“I’m really interested in creating a third space for people in North Little Rock,” Rhodes said, “a neighborhood restaurant where people can go to grab a great bite to eat, but also to lounge around, have drinks with their friends or fun with their families.”

The team is still early in the process, and is currently in talks with a property manager with an opening date in August at the earliest. Until then, however, they’ve built a place on their site where visitors can offer “expertise, advice, skills, connections and encouragement.”
