The UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute hosted its 19th annual Gala for Life September 26. The event kicked off with a VIP reception for donors and sponsors in the lobby of the Little Rock Marriott Hotel. The festivities continued in the main ballroom of the Statehouse Convention Center, where guests enjoyed cocktails, followed by a seated dinner. Gov. Mike Beebe and First Lady Ginger Beebe received the Pat and Willard Walker Tribute Award and Denise and Hershey Garner of Northwest Arkansas served as the event’s co-chairs. A live auction and spirited live entertainment by the Emerald City Band of Dallas followed dinner. The signature annual fundraiser drew 900 guests from across the state and raised $900,000 for the programs of the UAMS WRCI.
