Fresh2You Mobile Market Returns to the Streets

The Fresh2You Mobile Market is back in action providing central Arkansans with access to fresh produce in 2019.

Fresh2You Mobile Market delivers fresh fruits and vegetables to “food deserts” throughout the area. A food desert is defined as an area in which fresh, healthy food choices are not easily accessible, meaning no grocery stores are within walking or short driving distance, or that the area is home to a specific, at-risk population, such as the elderly.

The new year brings exciting new changes for Fresh2You. Joshua Harris has been named the new director, who has worked with Vine and Village and the Mosaic Church of Little Rock. In addition, Fresh2You will be serving fruits and vegetables as well as meat, dairy, pasta, ready-to-eat sandwiches and an expanded offering of groceries.

The Fresh2You Mobile Market is a collaborative effort between the City of Little Rock, Vine and Village, Mosaic Church and the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. The mobile farmers market bus was donated by Rock Region and retrofitted with assistance from the Blue & You Foundation and Union Pacific. The Fresh2You market participates in the USDA Double Up Bucks program, which allows those on food assistance to buy twice the amount of produce per benefit dollar.

Folks can catch the Fresh2You Mobile Market around Little Rock and North Little Rock. Follow along on Fresh2You’s Facebook page or Instagram for up-to-date info about all upcoming stops.
