Foodie News: All the Recent Restaurant Updates You Need to Know

If you’ve been keeping up with any of the local developments around town, you know the food news has been coming from across the city nonstop since the holidays. If you haven’t kept up with all of it, don’t worry. That’s where we come in.

Buckle up, Little Rock. We have a lot of ground to cover.

Tacos 4 Life

We can taste the queso now. Tacos 4 Life is opening its second Little Rock location at 13924 Cantrell Road in the former Mexico Chiquito space. Look for tacos by mid-2020.

Fidel & Co.

East Village is officially caffeinated. The Instagrammable space is located at 500 Shall Ave. and serves up everything from pour overs to pastries, all with painstaking attention to detail. The hype is real, folks.

Blue Cake Co. + Honey Pies

It was in the works and now it’s officially happened: Blue Cake and Honey Pies are under one roof. The bakery bought the pie shop at 315 N. Bowman and set up a second location in-house with more kitchen space to sling deliciousness.

South on Main

It was a roller coaster week for fans of the SoMa restaurant. First we found out owners Chef Matt and Amy Bell were selling to pursue a new gig in Nashville, then we found out Little Rock restaurant veterans stepped in to take the reins. Whew.

Hill Station

It’s finally happening, Hillcrest fam. Located on the corner of Kavanaugh and Beechwood, the family-friendly joint looks to have a lot to offer, but we’re most excited about the menu that comes from the minds behind Hillcrest Artisan Meats (HAM). Oh, and it opens Saturday.

Diablos Tacos & Mezcalería

Ok, so maybe the spot hasn’t had the best luck over the past couple years, but the location is amazing, and this Hot Springs-based restaurant may just be the one to turn it around. Load up on tacos, tapas and all sorts of goodness at 300 President Clinton Ave.

Newfangled Love Kitchen

We’ll be parkin’ it in Park Hill on Sundays for the foreseeable future. The diner is located next to (and owned by the same folks at) North Bar and focuses on farm-to-table eats sourced from local farmers, but we have our eye on their brunch menu.

The Library Kitchen + Lounge

The River Market’s newest restaurant and bar offers Southern classics with a twist, plus lots of TVs and space for live music. Yes, please.

Mugs Café

Folks in The Heights hated to see the Starbucks on Kavanaugh and Pierce go, but they were sure happy to see this Argenta favorite show up to fill the space. And yes, there are pancakes.

Nexus Coffee & Creative

More coffee, less problems. The downtown coffee shop recently expanded into the space next door previously occupied by The Barn Mercantile. That means more square-footage for java, local retailers and live entertainment.

Upcoming spots we’re excited for:

  • Tusk & Trotter – The much-loved, Bentonville-based restaurant is coming to Argenta this spring.
  • Hubcap Burger Co. – Yes, THAT Hubcap Burger. The Cotham’s offshoot is coming to Midtown.
  • Brood & Barley – Flyway Brewing’s newest project promises full bar service and “tasty culinary creations” in early 2020.
