Flyway Brewing Company’s new location in North Little Rock may be old news, but if you can already feel your tastebuds tingling, that’s because we’ve got updates on what they’re currently doing to get ready for customers.
Along with the usual process of getting appropriate permits and labels, Flyway Brewing partners Matt Foster and Jess McMullen have been working on brewing a Traditional Cake Series. Yes, they’re making cake-flavored beer. Beer and cake — could it get any better?
The two currently in the works for the series are Red Velvet Cake, a citrusy ale set to release in spring, and Carrot Cake, a cream ale set for summer.
“It’s exciting because we’re starting our brewery with a long list of great beers,” McMullen said. “Some of the recipes we are working on people haven’t ever had.”
In addition to the new recipes, McMullen said that next week, he, Matt and their employee Tim Burkley will take a trip to Nebraska to train for all new brewing systems. McMullen said that with this training, they hope to have fewer trial runs so that business can evolve even faster.
Physical construction of their building in North Little Rock is anticipated to start in late April, and according to McMullen, their goal is to be open by late summer.
