This weekend marks Little Rock’s first-ever Springfest, the debut family-friendly gathering born from the dovetailing of Riverfest into two separate downtown events. Springfest is up first with all your favorites in one place, and a few fun new pieces as well. Here’s a rundown of the stuff you and your fam don’t want to miss.
Springfest 5K Fun Run:
It’s the fifth year they’re doing this race, but the first time under the new name. The theme this year is Woodstock, so go on with your groovy self and be at the starting line at 9 a.m. ready to walk and ready for the costume contest. Yes, really.
Ruff on the River Pooch Parade:
Following in the same theme, this year’s “Woofstock” parade features animal rescues from All About Labs, Little Rock Animal Village, C.A.R.E., Rock City Rescue and Paws 4 Hope, as well as your very own pup. So get Fido all funky and be there with bells on — literally or figuratively, your choice.
The Super Retriever Series Rock the Dock:
Seriously, we can’t get enough dogs around here. This attraction is a favorite as crowds watch dogs compete in jumping competitions, with each leap ending in a giant pool. Beware the splash zone.
PK Grills Steak Cook-off:
This inaugural event is as tasty as it sounds. All you need is a PK Grill, a kickin’ recipe and the will to win and you could go home with cash prizes, Yeti Coolers and more PK grills. This is the part where we let you fight for our love.
Food Trucks:
Southern Salt Food Company, The Southern Gourmasian, Hot Rod Wieners Ozark Candies & Nuts, Haygood BBQ Concession & Catering, Wok ‘N Roll, Flossie’s Funnel Cakes, El Cubano Loco, Sweet Tea Kitchen and Coffee Shop, Katmandu MoMo, Bryant’s BBQ and Catering, The Food Commander, Loblolly Creamery and Kona Ice
Amphitheater Stage Performances:
10:30 a.m. – Ms. Karen’s Dance Studio
11:15 a.m. – Dollarway High School Diamond Dynasty Dance Team
12:00 p.m. – Out Loud Artistry “Young Stars”
12:45 p.m. – O’Donovan School of Irish Dance
1:30 p.m. – Stage Door Dance Arts
