With Father’s Day almost here–Sunday (June 15)– it might be time to figure out exactly what to do to celebrate the dad in your life. Lucky for you, there are plenty of things going on this weekend.
Here is a rundown:
- Take your pops to a state park — Several state parks are having special programs on Father’s Day. At Little Rock’s Pinnacle Mountain State Park, 11901 Pinnacle Valley Rd., there will be a Father’s Day Sunset Canoe Float from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Explore the Big Maumelle River with dad as nighttime unfolds. Possible sights and sounds for the night include bats, coyotes, deer, owls, beaver and maybe even an alligator. There are also two Father’s Day Lake Cruises on Saturday (June 14) at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. The sunset float is $35 per person and includes use of canoe, paddles and lifejackets, while the lake cruises are $15. Advance payment is required. Call (501) 868-5806 to register.
- Go golfing — Many dads would appreciate a nice, relaxing day of golf and this weekend is shaping up to be beautiful! Arkansas has many courses that are available to the public. Click here for the full listing. Or if you’re not wanting to spend four hours on the course, go mini-golfing at Little Rock’s newest attraction, Big Rock Fun Park, 11411 Baseline Road, Little Rock.
- Take him out for a nice dinner — Little Rock has some great restaurants for dads, including Cafe Bossa Nova, 2701 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock, which is for serious meat eaters. Or try South on Main, 1304 Main St., Little Rock, for a fabulous lunch or dinner this weekend. Sonny Williams Steak Room, 500 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock, is a great place to get your steak fix. Although it’s not open Sunday, a nice Friday or Saturday dinner could work! Something simple like pizza is always a great option, too.
- Hit the water slides — Maybe a day of hitting the water slides – or floating the Lazy River – best fits your dad. Whatever floats his boat, take advantage of the gorgeous weather this weekend at Wild River Country. Check out the water park at WildRiverCountry.com.
- Enjoy a barre class– West Little Rock’s Pure Barre is bringing back its “Bring on the Men: Father’s Day Edition” class at 6 p.m. Sunday. See if your dad, husband or boyfriend has what it takes to master barre. Cost is $30 per couple, which includes both spots in class and beer, wine, and food immediately following the class. Sign up at the studio, 11525 Cantrell Road, Suite 306, Little Rock, call (501)246-3258 or email littlerock@purebarre.com.
- Make him laugh– Head over to The Joint in Argenta and check out their latest two-act original comedy “Just Shut Up & Drive!”, featuring the entire singing Fertle Family from Dumpster, Ark. Take dad to one of the shows this weekend at 8 p.m. Friday or Saturday. Tickets are $20 apiece. Get your tickets and learn more here!
