Esse Purse Museum’s First Temporary Exhibit to Open This Weekend

Back in the day, a well-dressed woman wouldn’t be caught without her hat and gloves. Those days may be long gone, but SoMa’s Esse Purse Museum & Store, 1510 South Main St., Little Rock, will celebrate the two with its first temporary exhibit, “The Milliner’s Art,” which opens this Sunday with a tea and scones reception.

The exhibit covers seven decades of hat history and is curated from the collections of Anita Davis (who was featured in the February issue of Soirée!) and Catherine Nugent. Hatpins and accessories from the collection of Marsha Stone will add to the tiny details, and the fashionably festive display makes it a must-see!

The exhibit will run through Sunday, June 8.

Regular museum admission is $10 and $8 seniors and students. It includes admission to the special exhibit and if you’re planning on attending the opening reception from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, it will cover the tea and scones. Regular museum and store hours are 11 a.m.- 4 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.

Vintage hats will also be sold during the temporary exhibit’s run.
