ESSE Purse Museum Reveals Exhibit Featuring Antique Unmentionables

ESSE Purse Museum recently unveiled a new temporary exhibit, Exposed: Unmentionables, 1900s-1960s, which runs through Sunday, April 29.

Typically not on display for the general public, undergarments represent the lengths women will go to achieve certain beauty standards. The Exposed exhibit aims to showcase the ever-evolving ideal female figure and the contraptions it takes to achieve it.

The artifacts on display are from ESSE’s permanent collection and include dress forms, corsets, advertisements, slips, photographs and other special accessories.

Visit the new exhibit during ESSE’s museum hours Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. General admission is $10; student, senior (60+) and military admission is $8.
