Prepare to be dazzled by the glitz, gleam and glamour of Esse Purse Museum’s latest exhibit “Glitter, Shimmer & Shine: A Special Exhibit on the Beauty of Bling.”
Currently on display in SoMa through May 14, the flashy exhibit showcases owner Anita Davis’ most eye-catching handbags from multiple decades and in varied styles to celebrate the love for all things glam.
The Roaring ’20s made all that shimmers and shines a must for handbags and purses. As women gained more independence and autonomy throughout the decade, the glittering handbag became the ultimate symbol of the fashionable, modern woman. Although delicate detail gave way to practicality in the 1930s and later decades, the striking shine of a beautifully decorated handbag has always remained in style.
Esse Purse Museum will be closing the “Glitter, Shimmer & Shine” exhibit on Mother’s Day on May 14 with a special reception and celebration. Follow along on Facebook and Instagram for updates and special announcements.
Both the museum and store are open Tuesday-Sunday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Regular admission is $10 and student, senior and military admission is $8.
