It was reported by food writer Kat Robinson that the restaurant, known for its “Mile High Pies,” closed Saturday (March 1).
The restaurant has been a staple for generations of Benton residents. Originally Ed and Alma’s, the name changed to Ed and Kay’s in 1982 when a new family– the Diemers– took over operation of the place. It has earned a reputation as a great place for dining super-sized breakfasts and tasty lunches and of course, their “Mile High Pies,” Robinson said.
She featured the restaurant in her book “Arkansas Pie: A Delicious Slice of the Natural State” and we highlighted it as one of five local places to try to pie.
The business is currently for sale.
