Change is never easy, but in this case, we imagine it’ll be just as tasty as before.
The SoMa restaurant Dos Rocas will now be under the sole ownership of The Root Cafe owners Jack Sundell and Corri Bristow-Sundell. The couple will be rebranding the existing restaurant to Mockingbird Bar & Tacos, with a similar Latin American feel with an emphasis on local farm-to-table fare. The official launch of the new menu and name took place on Oct. 24 and coincided with the Arkansas Cornbread Festival.
“Our former partners left for personal reasons and Dos Rocas was their story,” Jack Sundell said. “We want to make it our story and that’s the genesis of Mockingbird.”
Like at The Root Cafe, Mockingbird will source its food from more than a dozen local farms to bring in fresh produce, chicken, pork, beef and eggs. Culinary staff will make most of the menu items from scratch — even hand making the corn tortillas for the tacos before each shift.
Other locally sourced, handmade menu items to look for:

Fried fish tacos: masa-breaded local striped bass served with tomatillo chow-chow and chipotle crema (fish from Arkansas Aquaponics in Lonoke)

Spicy green chorizo hot dog: ground, spiced and stuffed in-house with pork from Rabbit Ridge Farms, topped with jalapeño relish (jalapeños from Arkansas Natural Produce) served on a Community Bakery bun

Seasonal grilled vegetable quesadilla plate: medley of local seasonal veggies, grilled with cheese on a flour tortilla from Brenda’s Tortilleria, served with a locally sourced side salad and house cilantro vinaigrette

Nine kinds of tacos with meats like house-made chorizo, spiced braised beef, slow-roasted carnitas and tender lengua — all sourced from local farms in central Arkansas
Mockingbird serves 16 beers on tap, 15 from local craft breweries and the Modelo Especial. If margaritas are more your style, Mockingbird uses only freshly squeezed lime juice and are always $5.
Dos Rocas fans will still be able to order a few of their favorite items at Mockingbird including the guacamole and queso, empanadas and Nachos Rocas.
