Update: Due to the threat of inclement weather, this event has been rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 20.
When your farmers market throws a party, you clear your schedule.
That being said, our calendars are officially wiped clean for Saturday, Aug. 20, as the Little Rock Farmers Market celebrates National Farmers Market Week (which was originally slated for Aug. 11).
Not only will you be able to load up on the regular delicious goods in the River Market Pavilions, but the day will also include a full lineup of family friendly activities. Attendees can expect live music, local vendors and book signings by “100 Things to Do in Little Rock Before You Die” author Celia Anderson and “Good Night Little Rock” author Emily Wyatt.
Over at the kids area you’ll find coloring book stations, temporary tattoos and a petting zoo with ducks, goats, rabbits, mini pigs and more, like a camel and kangaroo. Yes, really. Other groups you’ll find on hand include Rock City Rescue with adoptable furry friends, Master Gardeners with helpful green tips and Pulaski Tech’s Culinary team with tasty samples.
Wondering what produce to go home with? This is what’s in season this month.
Regular farmers market hours are 7 a.m.-3 p.m. with special activities from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. For more info on the National Farmers’ Market Week celebration, check out the Facebook event page.
