If you haven’t got your tickets to see “The Second City” at the Arkansas Repertory Theatre yet, what exactly are you waiting on?!
“The Second City” opened in Chicago in 1959, and has been the spot for up-and-coming comedians. More than likely, your favorite comedians today were a part of “The Second City” in their younger days. Tina Fey, Stephen Colbert, Amy Poehler, Steve Carell, Jason Sudeikis and Keegan Michael Key all passed through the doors of “Second City.” Not to mention, so did Bill Murray, Chris Farley, John Candy, Dan Akroyd, Jim and John Belushi, Tim Meadows and Jerry Stiller.
With that list, it’s safe to say this is your chance to see some of the great comedians of the future.
The traveling comedy tour — which combines sketch comedy with improv — will do 14 shows in 10 nights at The Rep. The first show of the “Happily Ever Laughter Tour” is set for April 30 and the finale is May 10. Tickets are $35, and are a $25 add-on for series subscribers. You can get them here. FlexPass holders can use their passes for this show.
Before the shows start, The Rep’s Producing Artistic Director Bob Hupp will host the cast in a discussion of the art of improv comedy at the Clinton School of Public Service as part of the Distinguished Speaker Series. The talk is set for noon to 1 p.m. April 29. For more, click here.
