‘Designing Women’ World Premiere Up Next for The Rep

The Sugarbaker gang is back, and we know you’ve missed their sass.

The first show of 2022 for the Arkansas Repertory Theatre is the world premiere of “Designing Women,” a staged, modern-day version of the hit TV show from the same creators.

Set around the fictional Sugarbaker and Associates design firm in Atlanta, the 1980s sitcom was known for its smart, biting, Southern humor from the ladies of the firm. In this brand new production, Suzanne, Julia, Charlene and Mary Jo are back, and this time they’re navigating the craziness of 2020.

Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test are required for all attendees, and masks must be worn at every performance. The Rep also recently made massive improvements to the building’s air quality control systems in an effort to “[ensure] a safe and comfortable theater-going experience” in a COVID world.

“Designing Women” runs Jan. 18 – Feb. 6, with official opening night festivities on Friday, Jan. 21. For showtimes and more information, or to purchase tickets online, visit The Rep’s website. You can also call 501.378.0405 or visit the theater’s box office downtown at 601 Main St.
