Party With a Heart is an organization that partners with a different nonprofit each year to host events to increase awareness and support of the charity’s mission. This week, Party With a Heart announced its focus for 2019.
This year’s partner is Arkansas Paws in Prison, a program through the Arkansas Department of Corrections that pairs inmates with shelter dogs that need rehabilitation. Through ADC partnerships with rescue organizations, dogs will often enter the program mere days before euthanasia. The dogs then learn basic obedience skills and proper socialization from select inmate trainers before being adopted into new families.

Party With a Heart will host two events throughout the year and all benefits will go toward Paws in Prison. The goal is to raise $30,000 to launch a program in the McPherson women’s unit at Newport and sustain the program for three years.
