Currently Coveting: 5 Spring Trends

Images from recent Fashion Weeks have us feeling inspired – and anxious – for warmer weather and lighter layers. Allyson Pittman shares five trends that we’re currently coveting to get our wardrobes springtime ready.

1. Embellishments: That extra shine of sewn on gems or gleam of hardware adds a pop of perfection to any ensemble.  Whether it’s shoes, bags, shoulder accents or all over embellishments, this wear-able bling gives any look just the right amount of glam.  Urban Expressions Studded Bag ($54.90), E. Leigh’s Boutique. Greylin Embellished Shift Dress ($163), Southern Accented.

2. Florals: Play up your sweet side with a perfectly playful floral piece.  Whether it’s a maxi, midi, mini or top, floral pieces are a welcomed addition to any wardrobe.  Pair with embellished accessories for a just right juxtaposition of soft and hard.  Gentlefawn Floral Vest ($92), Steamroller Blues. Alice + Olivia Blossom Skirt ($330), Scarlet.

3. Luxe Sweatshirts: The slouchy sweatshirt just got better.  Done right in punched up patterns or bright hues, this go-to comfort piece can look presentable and polished.  Dress it up with metallic trousers or mini for a night out. Collective Concepts Sweatshirt, ($62), Beehive.

4. Pastels: From lavender, sky blue, peachy pink and more, the range of this springtime hue is vast.  Go all over pastel for a look that’s whimsy and subdued, or pair with a contrasting color like black for a more modern, edgy feel. Current/Elliott Dusty Pink Stilletto Skinnies ($218), Scarlet.

5. Shift Blouses: Often thought of as a dressier version of a t-shirt, the shift blouse is more sophisticated than laid-back.  This boxy silhouette gives any look a more modern feel.  Our favorites feature geo-metric prints and embellished accents that keep the structured look playful.  Line & Dot Shift Blouse ($108), Southern Accented.
