Several spots around central Arkansas are offering the chance to learn tips and tricks, new recipes and cooking methods through April. Here is a look at a few classes coming up:
Thursday, March 13
Tasting of Home Cooking School at the Clearchannel Metroplex, I-430 and Colonel Glenn, Little Rock: Get cooking tips and tricks, check out quick-fix recipe demos and learn a few decor and entertaining ideas at the Taste Of Home Cooking School tomorrow (March 13). Shop and sample 4-6:30 p.m. with a variety of local merchants and stop by the cooking demos, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and available online or at any Central Arkansas Edwards Food Giant Store. Friday, March 21
Table for Two at the Winthrop Rockefeller Institute, 1 Rockefeller Drive, Morrilton: Break out of the ordinary date night routine with the Table for Two culinary classes. Executive Chef Robert Hall will demonstrate how to cook the night’s entrée (this time, blackened catfish) while you and your significant other enjoy a freshly prepared appetizer. After the demonstration, you will step up to the stove together and practice your new skills under Chef Hall’s guidance. Your newly created entrée will be enjoyed at a candlelit table for two followed by a decadent dessert from the WRI kitchen. Cooking Class with Chef Mark Abernathy at Eggshells Kitchen Co., 5501 Kavanaugh Blvd., Little Rock: Restauranteur and chef Abernathy (Loca Luna, Red Door, Blue Mesa Grill, Juanita’s and Bene Vita) will make a stop at the kitchen store for some cooking fun. You’ll be welcomed upon arrival with a glass of wine or beer (or you can bring your own) and during the class, have the chance to ask questions and learn how to cook up some delicious nosh. Pâté, Pickles and a Pint with Chef Scott McGehee and Mixologist Lee Edwards at Eggshells Kitchen Co.: McGehee (Boulevard Bread Co., Big Orange, ZAZA Fine Salad + Wood Oven Pizza Co. and Local Lime) and renowned bartender and drink partner Edwards will join forces for a special class, exploring the secrets of the perfect pickles and pâté and what adult beverages pair best with each. During the class, enjoy a glass of wine or beer, learn a ton about food and leave with a head full of knowledge. Reservations are required and seats are extremely limited. Yeasts Breads and Pizzas– Simple Breads for the Family at Community Kitchen at Pulaski Tech Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management Institute, 13000 I-30, Little Rock: Make a variety of yeast-leavened breads, including pita, focaccia, dinner rolls and pizza dough at this continuing education cooking class at the brand-new facility in south Little Rock. Technique Demonstrations at Williams-Sonoma, 201 N.
