This fall marks 20 years since former presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Jimmy Carter and George H. W. Bush stood on a rainy stage in downtown Little Rock to dedicate the brand new Clinton Presidential Center.
In those two decades, the center has become a fixture of the Little Rock skyline and daily life, greeted countless field trip groups, welcomed international leaders to its speaker series, won awards for its restaurant 42 Bar and Table, hosted traveling exhibits on everything from the Olympics to climate change and so much more.
The center is planning various commemorative events over the next year beginning with “Clinton Presidential Center Presents: How It Started” on Thursday, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. The program will feature a discussion with some of the people who helped bring the center to life more than 20 years ago.
Panelists include Dr. Dean Kumpuris, Little Rock City Director; Skip Rutherford, dean emeritus of the Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas; Debbie Shock, senior director of operations and chief of staff of the Clinton Foundation; and Stephanie S. Streett, executive director of the Clinton Foundation. Lena Hayes, former deputy executive director of the Clinton Foundation, will serve as moderator.
The program is free to attend and will also be livestreamed. Click here to register to attend virtually or in person at the center.
