Cinco de Mayo Celebrations to Keep on Your Radar

Cinco de Mayo is that one special day each year when people tend to forget the negative side effects of tequila, instead opting for second and even third rounds of margaritas. (Hey, no judgement.) Whether you prefer frozen or on the rocks, there are quite a few places you can sip margs and celebrate Cinco de Mayo right here in Little Rock.

Margarita Festival

The name says it all, folks. Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 4, from 6-9 p.m. in the River Market. The fest will pit 15 local restaurants against each other for the title of “Best Marg.” In addition, the event will include food from Loca Luna and Taco Mama, music, entertainment and a photo booth. There’s also an unoffical after-party at Ernie Biggs, so you may want to pace yourself. For more info, check out the Facebook event page

Cinco de Heights

This two-day neighborhood pary not only celebrates Cindo de Mayo, but it also serves as the second anniversary of Heights Taco & Tamale Co. being open in The Heights. The restaurant will be serving $5 margaritas (including tax!) and $5 cheese dip and salsa combos all day long.

On May 6, the inaugural Cinco de Heights event will kick off in front of Heights Tacos & Tamale on Kavanaugh Blvd. from noon to 4 p.m. The day will include live music by The Good Time Ramblers; a golf cart float-building competition and parade with cash prizes; an E-Z-GO golf cart giveaway; kids activities; a mojito, marg and beer zone; gourmet pops from Le Pops and lots more. Cindo de Doggo

Rescue Road will be presenting their 5th Annual Wine & Wags event on May 5 from 6:30-10 p.m. at Twin City Limos & Events Center. Guests can enjoy food and beverages, bid on silent auction items, sponsor a dog or participate in a wine pull. Proceeds help offset the costs of heartworm treatment and other special needs for dogs from Arkansas high-kill shelters. For more info, check out the Facebook event page

SHARP Cinco de Mayo Fiesta

The ASO young professional group is setting up Cinco camp at The Bernice Garden in SoMa. Admission to the Sharp Fiesta includes tacos from Local Lime, tamales from Heights Taco & Tamale, salad from ZaZa, Lost 40 beer, Alice 107.7’s Moose as the DJ, dance lessons, and of course, margaritas. The night will also include a piñata, a ring toss for wine and liquor, a photo contest and a silent auction. As a part of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, all proceeds from this event will go towards the ASO.
