Celebrity Attractions Open House Set for April 22 at Maumelle Performing Arts Center

Celebrity Attractions is hosting an open house April 22 to give the public a look at its temporary home at the Maumelle Performing Arts Center.

While the Robinson Center Music Hall undergoes renovations, which begin July 1, the nationally touring Broadway will call the performance hall on the Maumelle High School campus home.

The Maumelle performance hall has a seating capacity of 1,200, considerably less than the 2,609 capacity at the Robinson Center. But the Maumelle venue offers a more intimate setting with the last seat less than 105 feet from the stage, compared to more than 140 feet from the stage at the Robinson Center.

“Each year our patrons ask us to bring the best and brightest of stars to Little Rock,” Celebrity Attractions CEO Ed Payton said in a news release. “We know that with this season, we will be able to introduce our audience to our new home at Maumelle Performing Arts Center and offer them fantastic performances to attend.”

The open house will include a ribbon cutting with Maumelle Mayor Mike Watson and other city officials, in addition to Pulaski County Special District School officials and Maumelle Chamber of Commerce officials.

In February, Celebrity Attractions announced its shows for the 2014-15 season. The shows include “The Music Man,” “Love Letters,” “Camelot” and “Million Dollar Quartet.”

At the Maumelle hall, an extra performance is being added to the lineup and show dates will be moved to the weekend, which makes showtimes as follows:

Fridays — 8 p.m.

Saturdays — 2 p.m. (matinee) & 8 p.m.

Sundays — 2 p.m. (matinee)
