Celebrate Mardi Gras: 6 Places to Check Out

Green, yellow and purple will be very visible just about everywhere Tuesday (March 4) to celebrate, you guessed it: Mardi Gras. Even though central Arkansas has already brought the mask, beads, parades and parties to the streets this past weekend, there is still some fun to be had on Fat Tuesday.

Here is a look six places to show your Mardi Gras spirit:

  1. Cajun’s Wharf, 2400 Cantrell Road, Little Rock: Get those beads out for Riverdale’s nightlife staple, Cajun’s Wharf, for its super-fun Fat Tuesday Party, starting at 4 p.m. The first 200 pounds of crawfish will be free and there will be $1,000 in giveaways all night.   2. Faded Rose, 1619 Rebsamen Road, Little Rock: Here’s another place to get your first crawfish fix of the year. The crawfish season will get underway at the Cajun restaurant Tuesday night with of course, crawfish, corn on the cob and potatoes. Call (501) 663-9734 for more information.
  3. Bar Louie, 11525 Cantrell Road, Little Rock: If you’re out in west Little Rock, stop by this hot spot in the Pleasant Ridge Town Center for some Fat Tuesday action. Enjoy tons of specials, including $1 burgers, $5 Hurricanes ($15 for pitchers), $5 Blue Bayous ($15 for pitchers), $10 Voodoo Chicken and layered jello shots. Ernie Biggs, 307 President Clinton Ave., Little Rock: For those wanting to go all out for the holiday, the piano bar will have a blowout Fat Tuesday party, complete with dueling pianos downstairs, DJ Doug Kramers upstairs at the nightclub and tons of specials, including $3 soco lime shots, $3 Mardi Gras draft and Captain Morgan White Hurricane specials. Loony Bin, 10301 Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock: Have a laugh as longtime comedian and actor Tommy Davidson takes the stage for two special performances on Tuesday. He first starred in the groundbreaking comedy series “In Living Color” and has since been in numerous comedy feature films including: “Woo,” “Half Baked,” “Booty Call,” “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls” and “Juwanna Man.” Showtimes are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $25.
