3 Ways to Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month in Little Rock

Experience the rich histories and cultures of the American Latino community during a month of festivals for National Hispanic Heritage Month. The month takes place Sept. 15 – Oct. 15 of every year to recognize, honor and celebrate the many contributions and achievements of Hispanic and Latino communities.

The Little Rock metro will mark Hispanic Heritage Month with three different festivals in the SoMa neighborhood, Argenta Plaza and Plaza Frida. All free and open to the public, these family-friendly festivals will have plenty of fun, delicious food, great entertainment and much more for the whole community to enjoy together.

Hispanic Heritage Festival at Plaza Frida

Celebrate the independence of Latin American countries at the fourth annual Hispanic Heritage Festival at Plaza Frida. Located in southwest Little Rock at 4001 W. 65th St., Plaza Frida will bring delicious local food, unique vendors, talented artists and performers together for a celebration to remember on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 5-9 p.m. Learn more here.

Hispanic Heritage Festival at Argenta Plaza

North Little Rock Tourism and nonprofit Seis Puentes are teaming up once again to bring the Hispanic Heritage Festival celebration to Argenta Plaza on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 4-7 p.m. The event celebrates North Little Rock’s Hispanic community with diverse artists, live music, children’s activities, authentic food and more. There will also be a “Taste my Salsa” competition where teams can compete to earn the title of best salsa in town, as well as a hot-pepper eating contest. Learn more here.

Fiesta en SoMa

The second annual Fiesta en SoMa will take place on Friday, Oct. 4, in Little Rock’s SoMa neighborhood. Explore and celebrate the distinct heritage of various Latino countries by delving into the traditions, customs and flavors of nations like Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala and more. There will be dancing, live music, art displays, food vendors and activities for kids from 4-9 p.m. Plus, this year’s festival will introduce a tamale taste-off. Tickets to the taste-off are $15 each and it will feature 20 local restaurants and cooks. Learn more here.
