CareLink Street Festival Moves to Cupcake-Themed Fun Run for 2020

These cupcakes come with more than sprinkles.

CareLink’s sixth annual Cupcakes for Goodness Sake will be converted to a virtual fun run as the nonprofit adjusts to COVID-19 precautions. Cupcakes on the Run kicks off on Oct. 15 with participants separately completing their choice of one mile, 5K, 10k or cumulative distances before Nov. 30.

The event is CareLink’s largest fundraiser, which evolved from a faceoff between bakeshops in 2015 to a full-on festival with the streets of Argenta lined with cupcake connoisseurs.

“With COVID-19, we knew it would be irresponsible to move forward with Cupcakes in the way the community has grown to love. We also knew it would be difficult to turn it virtual without losing a key part, the cupcake competition,” said Meredith Hale, director of development. “So, we created Cupcakes on the Run, a family-friendly competition for people of all ages that raises awareness for CareLink services in a safe way until we can eat cupcakes together again.”

All proceeds go to CareLink, a nonprofit that serves as the area agency on aging for central Arkansas and provides resources for older people and their families. CareLink raised $45,000 toward its cause with the 2019 event.

Registration for Cupcakes on the Run is open now. Learn more and sign up at the CareLink website.
