Sure, New Year’s resolutions are great, but, there’s something about springtime weather that just makes you want to get out, explore and do something new.

The Central Arkansas Library System just announced its spring lineup of Community Learning Courses to be held at Hillcrest Hall, located at 1501 Kavanaugh Blvd. These classes cover everything from dance to sewing to Photoshop, so prepare yourselves for a whole lot of learning.
Here’s the rundown of courses, with descriptions provided by CALS:
Yoga: Ten Weeks to Deepen Your Practice
The ten-week course will help beginners transition to intermediate level poses or intermediate students focused on advanced poses and inversions.

Scottish Dance
Individuals will learn the basic footwork and some of the formations commonly used in dancing traditional and modern reels and jigs. No partner or previous dance experience is necessary. Soft-soled shoes are recommended but not required.

Contemporary Embroidery as an Art Form
Participants will learn about various ways to use embroidery in contemporary art applications.

Sew Social: An Evening of Learning and Creation
Sew some Arkansas pride by creating an Arkansas-themed tote bag in a fun learning environment. Machines and supplies are provided.

Harvesting Color: An Introduction to Natural Dyes
Participants will learn about natural dyeing, color theory, and basic textile knowledge, and will explore dyeing characteristics of plants from local gardens and parks through hands-on participation.

Sewing for Beginners
The course will provide an orientation to machines, basic supplies, and troubleshooting, including basic seams and straight and curved corners. Attendees will complete a project to put their knowledge into practice. Sewing machines and supplies will be provided.

Photoshop for the Amateur
Attendees will learn essential tools and methods for enhancing photos with Photoshop. Learners must be proficient in computer use and have installed software prior to class. Trial versions of Photoshop are acceptable.
