The musical Cabaret, on stage Wednesday-Saturday (July 25-28), is Argenta Community Theater’s first community theater production.
Set in politically and economically unstable Berlin in 1930, it’s the story of an American cabaret dancer working at the Kit-Kat Club, where anything goes, as well as a rich German politician, a young Jewish man struggling with his identity, an Englishman teacher from London, and the all-knowing, all-seeing Master of Ceremonies.
Bob Hupp of the Arkansas Repertory Theatre is directing, Vincent Insalaco from ACT is producing, Christen Pitts of North Little Rock High School and the Arkansas Dance Network and Marisa Kirby of The Rep are choreographing, Kurt Kennedy of the United Methodist Church and River City Men’s Chorus is music director and Sara Cooke of North Pulaski High School is technical director.
Performances are at 7 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday (July 25-26) and 8 p.m. Friday-Saturday (July 27-28). Tickets are $15-$35. The theater is at 405 Main St., North Little Rock.
