Raise your hand if your Pinterest boards are an elephant graveyard of DIY projects you’ve been too intimidated to try.
Cue Sue.
Sue White is behind Brushes and Beyond, a company that helps make your crafty dreams come true by hosting “Pinterest Parties” and fulfilling custom-ordered items for when DIY just isn’t an option.
“The goal of each of my classes is for the participants to have fun first while they enjoy something creative,” White says. “I love to see a group of friends coordinate a class and watch them enjoy each other while getting to be creative and carefree. There are not many chances for women to just do something fun for themselves and learn something new.
Headquartered in Vilonia, Brushes and Beyond sets up shop in Little Rock several times a week hosting classes in clients’ homes, at churches and other meeting spaces, as well as stores like The Painted Tree, The White Goat and Reinvented Vintage.
Most classes are centered around home decor with guests making items like serving trays, stenciled pillows, restored furniture and seasonal door hangers. White also offers classes for special parties like birthdays, fundraisers and bridal and baby showers.
The most popular project? That would be the seasonal door hangers, with furniture painting as a close second.
White plans on adding to her class offerings by learning new skills herself. Next on her list is conquering calligraphy.
“With my online business, I design reusable stencils and engraved gifts and decor,” she says. “So many of the popular designs are beautiful calligraphy and handwritten. I would love to be able to hand write my own typography for my clients, and to be able to use them with engraving and stencils.”
