Botanica Gardens Announces Spring Class Lineup

Botanica Gardens is getting us in the springtime spirit with their new events coming in April and May. Whether you want to know more about annuals or just want to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Botanica Gardens has something for all gardeners and non-gardeners to enjoy.

Here’s what’s in the lineup.

April 4: DIY Project – Trendy Concrete Pot

In-house designer and merchandiser Katie Walker will teach you step-by-step how to create your own concrete container in this seminar. Dress up your pot with a fresh plant and you’ll be ready to go! All materials will be provided and the event is $25 per person.

April 11: A Little Shady

If you find the sun can be a little excruciating, come hear garden guru Angie Sunderman, who will discuss how to incorporate texture, contrast and color into your own shade garden to keep the heat away.

April 18: Garden Design Made Simple

Maybe you love flowers and gardens, but you just don’t know how to make a beautiful landscape. Well, bring measurements, photos and site plans to this event for help from one of Botanica Gardens’ design experts. In this seminar, you’ll gain hands-on experience that will help you turn your yard into an oasis.

April 25: Color Your World with Annuals

Needing some color added to your garden? Interested in annuals? At this seminar, you’ll learn all there is to know about annuals and which ones are best in Arkansas weather.

May 5: Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at Casa de Olsen

Gardening really might not appeal to you, but we’re sure a Mexican feast will! Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with authentic Mexican food created by Chef Bonner and sip tasty margaritas, Mexican beer and wine while serenaded by a Mariachi band. The event is $35 a person or $60 per couple and lasts from 6:30-9:30 p.m. or later.

May 15: Grand Opening Party at Plantopia by Chris H. Olsen

See the new wholesale nursery full of trees, shrubs, perennials, pots and more for yourself from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The once Lakewood Gardens property has undergone a complete transformation and it isn’t something you want to miss.

All seminars are free to attend and last from 9:30-10:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted. Refreshments will be provided. To hurry and reserve your spot for any of these exciting events, call (501) 614-3000 or visit the Botanica Gardens website for more information.
