There’s good news and bad news, beer lovers.
The bad news is that we’ve lost one of our own. Blue Canoe Brewing Company, the local brewery that opened up in downtown Little Rock in 2014, is no more.
What began as a Kickstarter-funded nano-brewery at 425 E. Third St. soon gained a strong local following, leading then to the failed 2016 Taco Beer Burrito expansion into the former Brown Sugar Bakeshop space next door, and then finally the warehouse taproom and beer garden at 1637 E. 15th in fall of 2017.
According to our sister publication, Arkansas Business, the closure comes from a dispute and lawsuit among the owners. You can read the full play-by-play here.
But as promised, dear readers, there is good news: A new restaurant and bar is already lined up for the old Blue Canoe space on Third. Lucky Lou’s plans to open next month, complete with brews, tacos and an open door policy for pups.
We’ll keep an eye out for further updates on Lucky Lou’s, but for now, we’re pouring one out for Blue Canoe.
