For many brunchgoers, mimosas are the reigning beverage of choice, but we would argue the crown goes to the bloody mary. Not only is it a savory sip unlike any other, but it’s also a canvas on which to add as many tasty trimmings as your heart (or gut) desires.
The Centers’ Emerging Leaders young professionals group will host the annual BrunchFest this month, rolling out the red carpet for local restaurants dishing out their best brunch bites and drinks. The lineup includes heavy hitters like Kemuri, Brave New Restaurant, Mockingbird Bar & Taco, The Buttered Biscuit, Community Bakery and more, and it’s all to help fund summer activities and supplies for kids living at The Centers.
But first, we’re raising a celebratory glass to brunch royalty with a spicy libation for the ages.
Tito’s Bloody Mary
Yield: 1
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 oz. vodka
- 4 oz. tomato juice
- 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
- 1 dash hot sauce
- horseradish (to taste)
- squeeze fresh lime juice
- freshly cracked black pepper
Directions:
Combine ingredients in a glass, add ice and enjoy. To serve a group, bump up the portions to 16 oz. of vodka and 44 oz. of bloody mary mix.
Pro Tip from Tito’s: Go wild with your garnishes. Try celery stalks, olives, dill pickles, pickled green beans, lemon, parsley, bacon, cheese cubes, boiled shrimp, etc. (Or add a Tajín rim like we did.)
