Celebrate Big Orange’s eighth birthday at The Promenade location with a scoop (or four) of Yarnell’s Ice Cream. The two businesses are teaming up for this kid-friendly birthday event on Saturday, Aug. 17, that promises fun for the whole family — and ice cream lovers, especially.
If your kid happens to have a talent for eating ice cream, Big Orange is hosting an ice cream eating contest for kids 12 and under. The competitor who fights off a brain freeze for the longest and finishes the most Yarnell’s ice cream in 90 seconds wins a Big Orange prize pack worth $50. There will be three separate chances to win based on your favorite ice cream flavor. The vanilla competition is at noon, the strawberry competition is at 12:20 p.m. and the chocolate competition is at 12:40.
If that wasn’t reason enough to go to Big Orange on Saturday, kids 12 and under will also get a chance to win free shakes for a year by dropping a raffle ticket into the bucket at the registration table. Pose for a pic in front of the Yarnell’s Ice Cream Truck and you’ll be entered to win the Big Orange backpack filled with goodies from Big Orange, Gearhead Outfitters and stores at The Promenade.
And Big Orange hasn’t forgotten about the adults. The restaurant is bringing back the Cuban Mojo Burger’wich piled high with Cuban-styled pulled pork and layered with housemade tomato-scotch bonnet chutney, aioli and arugula. Oh, and did we mention Big Orange’s signature frozen cocktail — the Velvet Orange — is just $5 all month long?
