Best Insurance Agents 2024: Monica Treat

Monica Treat

Treat Insurance Agency
Specializing in Medicare

Monica Treat is the proud owner of Treat Insurance Agency. She started the company in 2008 by driving the entire state of Arkansas selling insurance out of the trunk of her car. The business has grown organically through referrals and word of mouth. Sixteen years later, Treat Insurance Agency employs seven women and is one of the most sought-after agencies in Arkansas for its expansive knowledge on Medicare.

“I’m grateful and honored to say that I’ve been featured several times in Soirée, so I struggled with what I wanted to share in this article,” Treat says. “I didn’t want it to be redundant, and more importantly, I don’t want it to be hollow.

“My heart’s desire is to share something real and authentic — something that can give hope, encouragement and connection.”

What have you been working on in 2024?

All the things! I decided at the beginning of the year that I was going to go after things that scared me. Instead of picking one, in typical all-or-none fashion, I chose several. I love Sherwood and have thought about being a part of city leadership for a while, so I went for it and I’m running for Sherwood City Council Ward 4. I’ve also wanted to flip a house for years. My husband is a custom home builder, and with his building knowledge and my love for design, I knew we could do something special. I bought a 100-year-old house in Park Hill and we are in the process of turning it into a masterpiece. On top of all of that, we are in the process of building our dream home. This is something we have been working toward for 20 years and it’s more than we ever could have dreamed for. And last but not least, the insurance agency is expanding! We are adding two new employees to our NLR office and expanding to NWA through two awesome women that are going to take over the Medicare market in Fayetteville. Woo Pig! In January, I put on my letter board “2024 is the year, dear.” That put me in a mindset to chase after things that I feared, but that I also knew could be so fulfilling.

What was the motivation behind you making this a milestone year?

My mom passed away two years ago, and I really struggled with depression after she passed. I was trying to learn how to navigate life without the woman who brought me into it, without the woman who taught me how to be independent and without the woman who taught me how to be a businesswoman. I learned so much from my mom during her life. She taught me resilience, grit, perseverance, confidence, a strong work ethic and how to hold my own. Ironically enough, she taught me so much through her passing, too. I learned that life is so incredibly short and fragile. It’s caused me to have a better perspective of what deserves my time and attention and what doesn’t. It’s made me dig deep to decide who I want to be and what I want to accomplish in my lifetime. It’s given me a sense of urgency to run after the things that make my heart skip a beat, but to also slow down to enjoy the moment. I knew that I had to get busy in 2024 chasing after all of the things to pull myself out of the depression from losing her. I knew she would want me to shine. I knew that she would want me to use all of the strength that she instilled in me to do great things. So here I am, giving it my all.
