The Heights is adding a new shade to its repertoire. Beige, a contemporary designer boutique, is moving to 5915 Kavanaugh Blvd. in May.
Currently located in downtown Little Rock, the local shop will occupy the former Bologna Joe’s space between Proposals and Old Heights Corner Store. According to owner Ashley Peeples, the move is connected to the shop’s thriving online business.
“Downtown Little Rock has been the home of Beige for the last two and half years. It has been our starting place, and has provided us the opportunity for growth and interaction with our customers,” Peeples says. “With that growth, our clientele has expanded beyond our local customer to a successful online boutique with global reach. Because of this, we have decided to relocate our brick-and-mortar to The Heights. This will provide us the space to grow our e-commerce store, as well as better cater to our local customer. We will miss downtown, but we are excited for this new endeavor!”
The new space — which you may remember as the Steamroller Blues location until 2016 — is currently in the remodeling stage with plans to finish the first week of May. As for the in-store experience, shoppers will note a familiar aesthetic.
“I kept with the original, minimal feel of the store, but updated it with softer features — arched doorways, raw linen fabrics and monochromatic colors. I took inspiration from some of my favorite places in New York,” Peeples says. “Designing the downtown location was a great experience. I got to learn what worked and change what didn’t.”
To mark the occasion, Beige will host a grand opening party on Thursday, May 17, alongside the launch of its summer 2018 lookbook. Guests can stop in from 6-8 p.m. for drinks and bites from Boulevard Bread and the chance to win a $250 Beige gift card. Be one of the first 50 customers and you’ll get a gift bag packed with goodies from the shop’s new neighbors in The Heights.
You can learn more about Beige on the boutique’s website, and follow along on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
