Bang-Up Betty Celebrates First Anniversary in Argenta on Saturday

This Saturday, Aug. 27, Bang-Up Betty is celebrating its shop’s first year in Argenta, or its “Bang-Up Bettyversary,” naturally.

In the span of a year, owner and artist Stacey Bowers has transformed the Bang-Up Betty brand from custom jewelry to ever-evolving gift shop, all while keeping the unique mix of humor, snark and sparkles her customers love.

“After only getting to connect with people at festivals and pop-ups or on social media for so many years, it’s been incredible being able to see my clients in person every week and share my handmade jewelry, local art by Arkansas artists I adore and clever, hilarious and creative gifts with everyone in a place doused in personality and joy,” Bowers says. “I call it my ‘rainbow unicorn market.'”

The brick-and-mortar space has allowed Bowers to foster a deeper connection with the community, regularly hosting events like book and plant swaps, fundraisers and Argenta Art Walk exhibits. But it’s also given her the opportunity to dive deeper into her own work and explore new ways of sharing it with the public.

“This space is a constant source of inspiration for me, and I’m perpetually changing it, expanding what we carry and creating themed events and gift displays to complement each line of jewelry I create,” Bowers says, “like in the spring when I turned our store into a little Space Station revolving around our ‘Space Age’ collection of jewelry. Right now a huge theme in the store is strong women, with a big display surrounding my newest ‘Speak Up’ collection of jewelry featuring quotes by women we look up to.”
