Ballet Arkansas Returns to Robinson Center Stage With ‘Swan Lake’

After a huge holiday season with the success of “The Nutcracker Spectacular,” Ballet Arkansas continues its 45th anniversary season with one of the artform’s most famous productions, “Swan Lake.”

Nearly 100 community cast members will join Ballet Arkansas’ company artists on the Robinson Center stage Feb. 17-18 to perform the beloved tale of Odette, Odile and Prince Seigfried set to Tchaikovsky’s iconic score.

Apart from “The Nutcracker” each December, “Swan Lake” will be the troupe’s first production on the downtown stage in more than two decades.

According to Michael Fothergill, executive and artistic director of Ballet Arkansas, this production marks “the beginning of a renewed presence of world-class ballet at the Robinson Center” where audiences “will witness a moment critical to the arts and cultural growth of our city and state.”

“As we embark on this monumental journey of presenting ‘Swan Lake,’ it marks a significant moment for Ballet Arkansas and The Natural State. ‘Swan Lake’ is classical ballet’s most illustrious work, and bringing it to the Robinson Center stage is a testament of the organization’s expansive growth and the unwavering support of our community,” Fothergill says. “Simply put, this production marks the beginning of a new chapter for Ballet Arkansas.”

To get audiences even more into the story of “Swan Lake,” Ballet Arkansas has also announced Noir & Black, a partnership with local boutiques to help theatergoers express their inner swan by donning their black and white best.

Barbara/Jean, B.Barnett, BC Two, Companions, Dillard’s, Jones & Sons, Tulips and Vestas will all offer exclusive discounts, styling services, special perks and pieces inspired by “Swan Lake” leading up to the production.

Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
