Bacon lovers unite.
It’s time for the third annual Rock Town Bacon Throwdown, a tasty cook-off between local professional chefs to benefit patients and families at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Medical Center.
The mouthwatering competition will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24 from 1-4 p.m. at War Memorial Stadium. Tickets, which are $25 in advance or $30 at the door, include a sample of each dish, soft drinks, water and a vote for favorite bacon dish.
Tickets can be purchased online via Eventbrite or by calling the UAMS Volunteer Services office, (501) 686-5656.
Proceeds from the cook-off will benefit the UAMS Patient Support Fund, which helps patients, families and support programs at UAMS.
Nine chefs have confirmed their participation in this year’s competition, including last year’s winner, Scott Rains of Table 28. He will be facing off against chefs from Cache Restaurant, So Restaurant, Ristorante Capeo, YaYa’s Euro Bistro, Ciao Baci, Terry’s Finer Foods, Boulevard Bread Company and Blue Cake Company.
A panel of judges will select the overall winners, while ticketholders will vote to determine which chef takes home the People’s Choice award.
If the Arkansas-Auburn game is playing during the cook-off, it will be shown on scoreboard screen and the screens in the concourse.
The event is being hosted by the UAMS Medical Center Auxiliary’s Aux Crew of young professionals. For ongoing updates about the event, visit the UAMS Aux Crew Facebook page.
