Here in the South, we love old traditions of just about any kind. What we love even more than tradition though is creating new ones; and boy, are we excited for the new tradition Hot Springs has kicking off this year. You won’t want to miss it.
The first annual Arts & the Park, a ten-day arts festival celebration, is happening May 1-10. See? We told you it was exciting!
This gigantic arts festival will feature local artists, musicians, literary, culinary and performance artists with something new happening on each of the ten days.
There is so much going on that we couldn’t possibly list everything, but here is a little taste of the variety of events that you can enjoy:
May 1 – Gallery Walk, “Derby Day” (a play), Adair Faire
May 2 – Studio Tour, C4K Paint Party, Rock Porch Sessions
May 3 – Studio Tour, Jackson House Style Show & Auction
May 4 – Food Fight cooking competition, Plein Air Paint Out
May 5 – Book signings from guest poets and authors, Latin Folkloric Dance
May 6 – Tales from the South live taping, Blues Jam performs
May 7 – Artists Workshop, Arts Celebration Reception, Jazz Night
May 8 – Mystic Creatures debuted by Garvan Woodland Gardens, Artists Workshop
May 9 – Art Fest outdoor festival, Hot Spring’s Farmers and Artisan’s Market, Barbeque Cook-Off
May 10 – Cinderella performance, Kundalini Yoga for Creativity, The Village Big Band performs
Most of the performances, workshops, tours and special events will happen on Central Ave. in downtown Hot Springs. While a majority of the events are free and open to the public, some activities may require a ticket.
