Get out your calendars and put a big circle around April 7. ArkansasGives is back.
After raising $2 million for Arkansas charities last year, the Arkansas Community Foundation is setting a huge goal for this year’s fundraiser: $4 million.
For one day, April 7, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., anyone can donate at ArkansasGives.org, and every gift helps the nonprofits to earn bonus dollars from a $400,000 pool provided by the Community Foundation.
The deadline for nonprofits to sign up for ArkansasGives day is Feb. 15. To qualify, the organization simply must be based in or have a location in Arkansas, be a member of the Arkansas Nonprofit Alliance and be a 501(c)(3).
First Security Bank will provide prizes for the nonprofits that raise the most money and receive the most individual donations.
“It’s amazing the impact we can have in one day when we all pull together,” said Community Foundation President and CEO Heather Larkin. “Imagine Arkansas without its nonprofits — it’s pretty bleak.”
So far, communications director Sarah Kinser said there are 240 confirmed nonprofits participating in the event, and she expects that number to surpass 350. The organization even built a searchable database of participating nonprofits, which you can browse here.
