MLK Jr. Commission Hosts Voting Registration Push on Saturday

Friends don’t let friends forget about registering to vote. And the 2020 Get Out To Vote (GOTV) statewide voting initiative is a perfect reminder to check your voter registration status and remind your people to do the same.

The Arkansas Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission (a division of the Arkansas Department of Education) is launching a 2020 statewide mass voter registration initiative on Saturday, June 27, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. outdoors at the organization’s headquarters at 906 Broadway.

Among other activities, guests will hear from Angela Harrelson, the aunt of George Floyd, in the family’s first public appearance in the state.

The nonpartisan, cooperative initiative aims to register more voters in response to recent reports of low voter turnout in local elections. And while the event may only be one day, the push for registration continues afterward.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. You can do so online here. For more info on the event, head to the Facebook event page.
