So you want to shop local and support area makers and artists, but you’re not sure where to start? Enter: Arkansas Alley.
Arkansas Alley is an online collective of some of The Natural State’s best creators and businesses, both well-known and up-and-coming, that acts as a hub for shoppers. From pottery to jewelry to outdoor gear, there’s a variety of Arkansas-made items you can purchase right from the site.
Sarah and Paul Heer, the duo behind the blog Arkie Travels, launched Arkansas Alley in November as a way to help fellow small businesses transition into the world of online sales amid the pandemic. The result was this Arkansas-only marketplace — “think Arkansas Etsy” — that continues to grow.
“We’ve traveled to every corner of the state and have met some amazing people,” the Heers shared on Arkansas Alley social media. “We pride ourselves on supporting Arkansas businesses and we’re proud to share locally-owned companies with our audience.
“In the wake of COVID-19, we’ve also seen businesses struggle. We’ve seen many places close their doors because they either didn’t know how to transition to online sales or didn’t think they could afford it. We decided to change that.”
Current vendors include Camp Arkansas, Poppy Stitch Studio, Humbled Hands Pottery, The Boho Mobile Home, Twisted Lane Candles and more. Click here for a full list, and keep an eye out for regular vendor additions.
