The countdown is officially on until the Argenta Community Theater raises its curtain for the first time since going dark in March 2020.
On Friday, Aug. 20, guests are welcome to attend the opening night of ACT’s production of the 1972 Tony-winning musical “Pippin.” To celebrate the reopening, the theater will kick things off with an outdoor gala and presentation of the Arkansas Patron of the Year Award on Tuesday, Aug. 17.
“You only get to have one grand opening, unless you live through a pandemic, and then you get to have two,” said Vincent Insalaco, ACT’s producing artistic director and co-founder. “We are humbled and proud that we are reopening our theater soon and equally as proud to be announcing our Arkansas Patron of the Year.”
Opening weekend will also coincide with the monthly Argenta Dogtown Throwdown, complete with outdoor dining, art and entertainment to welcome theatergoers back into the fold.
“Pippin” will run through Aug. 28. If you’re interested in auditioning for the production, click here to schedule an appointment for June 5.
COVID-19 safety measures for the show have yet to be announced and will be decided closer to showtime in accordance with CDC recommendations. The Patron of the Year recipient will also be announced at a later date.
