Tax-free weekend is here, and our wallets couldn’t be happier.
This Saturday and Sunday, the State of Arkansas will hold its annual sales tax holiday. All retailers are required to participate and may not charge tax on select items that are legally tax-exempt for two days.
Shoppers can buy certain clothing, accessories, electronics, school supplies, instructional materials and more free of state and local taxes.
The official list of applicable items is available here, and includes things like:
-
articles of clothing that cost less than $100 per item (jeans, shoes, uniforms, etc.)
-
clothing accessories that cost less than $50 per item (cosmetics, jewelry, handbags, etc.)
-
electronic devices (phones, laptops, printers, etc.)
-
school supplies (book bags, binders, notebooks, etc. — but these can be tricky, so double check the list)
-
art supplies (clay, paint, brushes, sketchpads, etc.)
Items that don’t qualify and are still taxable during the weekend include items like sports/recreational gear and protective equipment (including face masks).

Pro tip: Many stores are hosting sales on top of these discounts to get you through the doors. Do a quick search before you head out to see which stores have the best deals, and remember to shop local when you can.
