There’s always an animal in need in central Arkansas. You can help by adopting a dog or puppy next weekend at the largest multi-shelter adoption event in the area.
On Saturday, Feb. 10, the Central Arkansas Shelter Adoption Event hopes to find homes for hundreds of deserving animals. Taking place at the Arkansas State Fairground’s Hall of Industry and organized by Best Friends Animal Society in northwest Arkansas, the adoption fair is the perfect opportunity to meet, love on and adopt a new furry family member and best friend.
Many, if not most, shelters and rescue groups in the area are over capacity. By adopting, you give an animal a forever home, love and safety, as well as create space for another pet to be rescued.
“The Central Arkansas Shelter Adoption Event will not only rally community support for the animals, but will unite animal welfare organizations from across central Arkansas to help pets find loving homes,” says Jackie Roach, executive director of the Best Friends Animal Society. “Not even half of Arkansas’ shelters have reached no-kill. [It’s within] the power of Arkansans to support our community shelters and to commit to lifesaving whether that’s through adopting, fostering, volunteering or donating.”
With a special focus on local needs, this event will feature adoptable dogs from 14 local shelters and rescue groups, including:
- CARE for Animals
- Conway Animal Welfare Unit
- North Little Rock Animal Shelter
- Maumelle Animal Services
- Benton Animal Services
- Bryant Animal Control and Adoption Center
- Southern Hearts Rescue
- Cabot Animal Support Services
- Hope Fur Paws Rescue
The event will take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and admission is free. Adoption rates and policies will be set by each individual organization. For more information, click here.
If you’re unable to attend the adoption event, please consider locating a shelter near you and showing support by adopting, volunteering, fostering and promoting the shelter.
