Accents: Highlights of the October Issue

An emphasis on some of the best moments of the new issue, on set with the Musselmans, how to use our Giving Guide and more.

The Gift of Giving

The Arkansas Giving Guide is one of the most important, impactful sections we publish each year, and it’s not a responsibility we take lightly. If this is your first time seeing it, or you just need a refresher, here’s a quick rundown of what’s inside.

NONPROFIT PROFILES: This year’s guide features 60 area nonprofits, each with a profile highlighting key information about who they are, what they do and who they serve. Think: mission statements, boards of directors, funding sources, etc.

GIVING & VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Every nonprofit has a different need, and every reader has a different capacity for helping. Once you find an organization you align with, choose from its list of needs to determine how you can help that nonprofit succeed.

FUNDRAISERS & EVENTS: Save the dates and show up. This is a great way to learn about a nonprofit you aren’t familiar with or support one you have a relationship with.

CONTACT INFO: Websites, phone numbers, social media accounts — you’ll find everything you need to take the next step and get involved.

Happy giving, Little Rock!

Standout Quote

“Any time we can help them, I feel like we’re helping our state.”

– Frank Guinn, Arkansas State Police Foundation Board Chair

All Aboard the Muss Bus

For this month’s cover story, our photo team took a field trip to Fayetteville to spend the morning with Danyelle and Eric Musselman.

“The Musselmans graciously welcomed our team, letting us have free roam to choose the best spots and make a mess of the place with our camera equipment and wardrobe options,” stylist Josie Burnett says.

“Unsurprisingly, their closet was filled with every cool pair of sneakers you could ever want. And Danyelle was straightforward when we talked through wardrobe — she only owns two pairs of heels. After all, why would she need them, anyway?”

Datebook

Ah, event season. There’s nothing like fall in Little Rock, and a calendar packed with fundraisers and festivals is a big reason why. See for yourself in this month’s jam-packed Datebook (which is just scratching the surface, by the way), and say hi if you see us out taking Party Pics!
