Accents: Highlights of the November Issue

An emphasis on some of the best moments of the new issue, a bit of on-set off-roading, eye-catching fashions and more.

Scenic Route

“The bluffs at Emerald Park in North Little Rock is a location we’ve had in mind to use for some time, and our photoshoot with Deke Whitbeck from the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation was the perfect opportunity to let the landscape really show off,” art director Emma Devine says. “We loved that there were so many different features in a relatively small amount of space: impressive cliffs, dense trees and great rock textures.

“Plus, it’s a short drive from downtown, which just goes to show that you can very quickly get to an amazing scenic area from just about anywhere in the city.”

‘Tis the Season

From sweet treats to sparkling jewels, it’s always a thrill to scour some of our favorite spots in the city to compile our annual holiday gift guides. We suggest starting early this season and scoping out the three pages of local goodness in Part I, and stay tuned for more in the December issue.

All in the Details

Our fall fashion issue may be behind us, but style never sleeps on the pages of Soirée.

“For our Walk to End Alzheimer’s story, I wanted Kim Markland and Ashley Cunningham to stand out against the red of the track, so I went with bold colors and prints,” stylist Josie Burnett says. “The fabric of the outfits had a lot of flow, which helped with posing and getting some cool movement shots.”

Then, to complement the glamor of Tux ‘n’ Trees, co-chair Jeff Smith sported cufflinks from Baumans made from moldavite, a gemstone formed from a German meteorite.

“Looking at them against the light is pretty stunning!” Burnett says.

Standout Quote

“Nearly 50 years in, we firmly believe there is no better way to kick off the season, nor gift to give during the holidays, than being there for cancer patients and their families.”
